2022 Almond Festival
The Almond Festival is back!
The 107 year old tradition of celebrating the bountiful almond production in the Capay Valley is returning February 26th and 27th, 2022 after skipping last year due to COVID. All your favorite activities will return for the 2022 Almond Festival!
The Almond blossom festival
The first Almond Festival was held in October of 1915 to celebrate the almond harvest. It was a two day event, starting with a parade Saturday, then continued Sunday to include other typical festival activities. The homecoming queen was crowned Almond Queen, and she was the center of attention in the parade. The Almond Festival was put on hold during WWII, most likely to conserve resources. It was not revived until 1964 when the newly formed Chamber of Commerce breathed life back into it, moving it to the last Sunday in February. Since then we have celebrated the almond blossom during the Almond Festival.
The current festival
This year the Almond Festival is coming back from a short break better than ever! All the activities you have come to expect and love on Sunday will return. In addition, we will be bringing back the Saturday parade in Esparto, showcasing the newly crowned Almond Queen, followed by food and music in the Esparto park. It’s bound to be an outstanding weekend!
