Patricia Towse Harrison

August 24, 1940 – February 26, 2025

Patricia Towse Harrison, 84, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025. She was a beloved member of the community and cherished by her family. Her spunk and humor will be deeply missed. Pat was born to Oswin Frank and Mary Watson Towse in Woodland, CA on August 24, 1940. She grew up on her family’s 23-acre farm east of Woodland and attended Spring Lake Elementary School. It was a one-room schoolhouse, and is now a museum located at the Woodland Fairgrounds. She graduated from Woodland High School in 1958, and remained close with her gang of high school friends, “The Frolicking Fossils”, her entire life. After high school, she earned an AA Degree in Psychology at Stephens College in Missouri, and enjoyed working as a court reporter in Woodland for many years. She married David Harrison in 1964 and had 3 children, Paula, Erin and Jennifer. In 1975, they moved the family into a red brick house in the town of Capay, where she lived for the next 50 years. Pat was known for her fiercely independent spirit, hardworking nature, honesty, loyalty and humor. She was passionate about animal rights and owned many animals over the years including horses, goats, sheep, pigs, rabbits, turkeys, dogs, cats and chickens. Outside was where she liked to be, either working in her garden, walking the trails or tending to her animals. She loved to travel and read. Most of all she loved her family – her children, granddaughter, brother, sisters, nieces and nephews were what mattered most, and she looked forward to annual family reunions in Tahoe every year.

Pat worked hard to support her girls as a single mother after divorce. She worked as a secretary during the weekdays, and transcribed court records in the evenings on her electric typewriter. In 1978 she obtained her real estate license. She worked for Lawson Real Estate for 45 years and opened their Esparto branch. Pat was extremely involved in her beloved community of Esparto and Capay Valley. She was a founding member of Friends of the Library, and served 2 terms on the school board. She was a member of the Western Yolo County Horseman’s Association and the Citizens Advisory Committee. She was very active in the Esparto Chamber of Commerce and served as president for many years. She was the first female member of the Lions Club in district 4C5, and was proud that all Lions Clubs now welcome male and female members. Her favorite time of year was February, and she loved organizing the vendors in the Esparto Park during the Almond Festival. She loved riding horses – either her own around her property,

or during family trips to guest ranches such as Hunewill Ranch in Bridgeport, or Kay El Bar and Circle Z in Arizona. Pat is survived by her children Paula Wolfe (Jeremy) of Granite Bay, Erin Camperi (Marcelo) of San Francisco, Jennifer Harrison of Woodland, granddaughter Catherine Wolfe of San Diego, sister Eleanor Powell of Canyon Country, brother

Gerald Towse (Priscilla) of Arbuckle, and many nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by her parents O. Frank and Mary Towse, sister Margaret Slaven, niece Debbie Towse, and former husband David Harrison. A memorial service celebrating Pat’s Life will be held Saturday March 8th at noon at the Historic Oakdale Ranch in Esparto.
